Installing and Updating

Modified on Tue, 5 Aug at 11:26 AM

This article will provide a step-by-step guide on how to Install, Update or Rollback your ShotFlow Capture Application.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Baseline Requirements

The following requirements are recommended to achieve consistent performance usage of the Capture Module. Any deviation from the recommendations may produce undesired results.

  • We recommend 16 GB RAM, anything higher will not significantly improve performance of the Capture Module.
  • A separate installation for each local user account that requires access to the application
  • An active, stable internet connection to receive the latest data from the ShotFlow Platform. A wired connection is preferred over wireless if possible.
  • A local installation of Capture One Pro or Capture One DB version 12.0 or higher that is actively running with one open Capture One session in order to provide full functionality.

Release Notes for ShotFlow Capture versions offer the most up-to-date requirements, including supported OS, Capture One, and Adobe versions, and should be reviewed prior to install: ShotFlow Capture Release Notes

Installing ShotFlow Capture

Starting with release 2.2.15, Capture downloads are available via the ShotFlow Platform (https://platform.shotflow.com/#/capture), note this requires a valid ShotFlow user account:

ShotFlow Capture releases prior to 2.2.15 were distributed on Microsoft AppCenter, which was retired on March 31, 2025, so earlier Capture releases are not available unless approved by ShotFlow Support. To request an earlier release, contact support@shotflow.com

Auto-Update

Each new release of ShotFlow Capture will generate an automated pop-up in your local app, including release notes. This window presents the options to either Install, Remind Me Later, or Skip This Version. Please be sure to coordinate with your technical team prior to installing updates, as most of our clients have internal processes to manage which releases are supported in production.

  •  "Automatically download and install updates in the future" will automatically keep ShotFlow Capture up-to-date without the need for prompting or action.
  •  "Skip This Version" closes the Software Update screen and the app will not update. The Software Update screen will not be presented again until a newer ShotFlow Capture release is available.
  • "Remind Me Later" will close the Software Update screen without updating, and will present again in 2 hours.
  •  "Install Update" will download the latest version of ShotFlow capture and begin the installation process.

Manual Update

If your company has a firewall or other restrictions, you can also check for updates within Capture by selecting Admin -> Check for updates

Upon download and install, you will be prompted to move the ShotFlow capture applications into your applications folder automatically (this is recommended to avoid macOS quarantining issues). If you select "Do Not Move" and do not check "Do Not Show This Message Again" or manual move ShotFlow Capture to the Applications Folder you will be prompted again on the next launch.
