Creating Calendars

Modified on Wed, 6 Apr, 2022 at 9:45 AM

A ShotFlow calendar is a date/time based data visualization which includes a name, description (optional) and contains one or more events.

When accessing the Calendars tab in the left navigation pane, a home view appears that displays the first 50 calendars in alphabetical order by name. If there are more than 50 calendars, clicking the more button will load additional calendars. To quickly locate a specific calendar, enter any string from the name of the calendar in the Search field and select the [magnifying glass] icon.

Events should be created before Calendars, as each Calendar requires at least one Event. To learn more about creating Events, please click the title below:

Creating an Event

1. To create a Calendar, click on the +New Calendar button in the upper right hand corner.

2. A form is displayed with multiple fields:

Name - The way to identify the calendar, which is displayed with the calendar and used for searching calendars.

Description (optional) - An optional field to provide additional details about the Calendar and/or the purpose it serves.

Format - Clicking into this box will present with options for possible Date/Time formats; this is how the date/times will appear; additional information about this section provided below.

Settings- Shows the list of events to add to the calendar; maximum of 5 events can be added; additional information about this section provided below.

3. Once all fields are populated, click Create Calendar. The Calendar is now shown on the Calendar Home View that displays when the Calendar tab is opened.

Calendar Format

Clicking into the Format section will open a pop-window that shows the possible formats with the letters used to represent each option.

Type the format that should be used in the box at the top of the window, ensuring that only valid formats are entered. By default, the Display Format for a Calendar is MM/DD/YYYY h:mm:ssa). If no change to the format is desired, clicking OK will keep the default value and close the window.

Calendar Events Settings

The left "Available Events" column displays available events for populating this calendar. Only the first 15 events are displayed in alphabetical order. To quickly locate a specific event, you can search by either the event Name or the source Table by selecting the search method from the header to the right of the Search Events bar (defaults to Name). Enter a string in the Search field. After 3 characters are entered, the results will begin to populate.

If the source Table is from a related app, the name of the source application will be displayed on the right in addition to the Table name.

To add events to the Calendar, click on the desired Event in the Available Events section, drag it to the Assigned Events section and release. A maximum of five (5) events can be added to a calendar. If an event needs to be removed, simply reverse the steps by selecting the event in the Assigned Events column, drag to the Available Events column and release.

Events can be assigned a color for display in this calendar. To change the color of an event, click on the color block icon to the left of the event name and choose the color from the color picker. Please note the color selected for an event is ONLY applicable for the current calendar. This enables the same event to be a displayed in a different color on other calendars.
