Adding / Cloning New Shots in Platform

Modified on Wed, 4 May, 2022 at 11:55 AM

Ideally, Shots are generated via Data Ingest against a predefined and configured business logic; however, in the event a new shot is needed, there are 2 options for creating them in the platform:

Cloning an Existing Shot (new Angles or Shot Type for same products)

1. Locate the shot record that you wish to duplicate by filtering and/or selecting the appropriate View.

2. Select the green [clone] icon in the second column from the left.

3. You will see a Clone Shot form, displaying those fields that are configured in your brand app for Shot cloning. This new record contains identical values as the original Shot. You can modify any value(s) that should be different from the original Shot record such as:

  • The Title Field. This is visible in ShotFlow capture in the List Panel. You can change this value from the original shot per your client business rules so the capture team can differentiate this shot from other shots.
  • The Naming Convention. This field is used for file naming all of the captures for this shot, so you need to change this value from the original shot per your client business rules.
  • Changing Shot Status. If you assign the Shot to a Shot List, please note that you will need to manually change the Status field to “Ready” for the Shot to be visible in ShotFlow capture.

4. By default, the new Shot has relationships to the same record(s) that the source Shot was related to (these are displayed in the right panel). Generally, a Shot is linked to a Product Child and/or Parent record (in the case of a single product being captured), as well as a Sample. If those relationships need to be changed or removed, it can be done in the right panel. You may also choose to assign the Shot to a Shot List, and to other Shots (to enable parent/child hierarchy in ShotFlow capture). If your brand app has optional modules enabled, there will be additional relationships in the righthand Related Items pane, which may include Groupings (for relating the Shot to multiple products), Requests, Jobs/Channels, Assets, Talent, and/or Style Guides. Selecting the [+] (add relationship) button on any of the available headers in the Related Items pane will display a Search box where you can search for the record you want linked to this Shot. Selecting the record from the search results list will relate it to the new Shot.  If you wish to link the Shot to any other record(s), repeat the process as needed.

5. Select the [Create Shot] button to complete creation of the Shot record.

Creating a New Shot

1. Select the Shots table from the left navigation panel

2. Select [+New Shot ]

3. Complete the New Shot Form

4. Optionally, you can relate this Shot record to other record(s) in your brand app in order to relate it to other elements of your workflow. Generally, a Shot is linked to a Product Child and/or Parent record (in the case of a single product being captured), as well as a Sample (if the optional SF samples module is enabled). Selecting the [+] (add relationship) button for any of the available headers in the Related Items pane will display a Search box where you can search for the record you want linked to this Shot. Selecting the record from the search results list will relate it to the new Shot.  If you wish to link the Shot to any other record(s), repeat the process as needed.

5. Select the [Create Shot] button to complete creation of the Shot record.

Note: Creating a new shot requires configuring a Shot "from scratch." The preferred method to add Shots via cloning of an existing Shot, rather than creating and configuring a new Shot each time.

This is due to the large number of configurable fields that dictate Shot behavior in ShotFlow capture. These fields enable a wide range of options and behaviors that align to different studio production workflows, and users creating Shots "from scratch" can easily configure a Shot incorrectly for the intended workflow.
