How Auto-Sync functions in capture

Modified on Tue, 28 Dec, 2021 at 8:55 AM

By default, ShotFlow capture is configured to perform an automatic background read of data (known as Auto-Sync) every 5 minutes without the need for the user to manually retrieve or push updates to the data so that it is aligned with the data in Platform (ShotFlow's web interface). By default, every minute, capture will also perform an automatic background write of data. The Auto-Sync time increments for read and write of data can be adjusted based on the client need; making the time between each of the Auto-Syncs longer or shorter.  Please note that when the read Auto-Sync is running, the Sync Bar will show activity with a spinning activity indicator; however, the write Auto-Sync performs silently in the background.

The time of the last read Auto-Sync is displayed after the syncing has completed.

When Auto Sync is disabled, no read sync or write sync will take place without the user clicking Sync manually. This means that:

• No new shots (or records of other tables) are fetched from Platform
• No fields of existing shots in Capture are updated to values from Platform
• Any changes to fields of Shots in Capture are not pushed to Platform. This includes, but is not limited to, any updates to Shot Status, # of Captures, or any fields edited in the detail panel.
• Actions that require a network connection still run as expected, and update the respective records in Capture and Platform. This includes, but is not limited to, Shot Retrieval, Product Linking (adding, removing, reordering products), Shot cloning, Shot creating, and Adding/Removing Talent
