Automations Release (deployed 6/26/2020)

Modified on Mon, 31 Aug, 2020 at 7:49 PM

What’s New?

  • Initial support for Automations! This is a BFD, folks. Automations enable something that changes (a trigger) to automatically change something else (an action). As with all things ShotFlow, Automations are configurable to support each client's specific workflow needs. Common examples include: a product is dropped from a season, so all associated shots should be automatically cancelled. A sample is received, so all associated shots should move to a "Ready" status. A new request is created, so a related shot should also be created. The options are almost limitless for "internal" trigger/actions within ShotFlow, but Automations can trigger an external webhook action, which can trigger a workflow outside of ShotFlow as well (currently limited to Integromat, our primary iPaaS platform for external automations). Note there are a variety of limits on the type of fields, triggers and actions for this first release, with the expectation of layering in more functionality over time. This feature is currently only configurable by Super Admins, so please log a ticket if you have an Automation request and the Professional Services team will assess if an Automation is the right functional solve for your needs.
  • Collapsible left menu panel. To maximize screen real estate, the left menu panel can now be collapsed to display cute little icons for each menu option. All menus are still fully functional, just travel sized for your convenience.*

  • Unsaved activity warnings. When creating or editing an individual record or working in Grid Edit, attempting to navigate away before saving triggers a warning so you can save your work before it's lost forever. Very handy for those of us who are juggling too much work and moving fast.

  • Business week function for queries and charts. Clients can now define the first day of a work week and select "week" as a function when configuring queries or charts. Perfect for summarizing work completed within one or more business-defined week(s).

What Did We Fix?

  • Data Ingest negative and positive logical operators were misbehaving, but are better now.
  • Report layouts were getting janky when a chart or view was deleted, also better now.
  • Record sorting in nested Views was misbehaving, also much better now.
  • Fixed incorrect time zone in charts and reports.
  • Inherited fields were disappearing from label designs after application repair, now they stay put.
  • Some charts looked like 80s video games in dark mode, but have been upgraded to the modern era.
  • Fixed a bug when editing Dynamic Related Records fields.

What Did We Change?

  • Less alarming color palette for charts. Our selection of I'm on Fire, You're on Fire, It's All on Fire Red as the first color in our chart palette, and It's Not Red But It's Close Enough to Hurt My Brain Maroon as the second color in the palette, apparently caused pulse rates to reach unhealthy levels for many Chart users. The palette has been adjusted to create "visual distancing" between the first two colors, and to banish red to a user-selectable color for those Chart types that support color selection (e.g. Gauge). Any complaints regarding the new palette should be lodged with Microsoft, as we essentially just stole all the colors from the Excel chart palette.
  • Column headers stay visible when scrolling table views
  • Upload date added to columns in the Files view

* obligatory Mulan reference
