Release Notes: Capture 2.2 (No longer supported)

Modified on Wed, 15 Nov, 2023 at 12:59 PM

Requirements
  • OS versions: 10.15 (Catalina), 11 (Big Sur)
  • Capture One Pro versions: 20 (Catalina), 21 (Big Sur)
  • Adobe CC versions: 2018 - 2021
  • Access to a ShotFlow “2.0” platform studio app

Please note that some brand applications will require configuration changes to take full advantage of this new release. The following KB article outlines the changes recommended to fully optimize brand apps for Capture 2.2 (accessible to SysAdmin users): Preparing Applications for Capture 2.2

Upgrade Procedure from 2.1.8:

  1. ShotFlow capture 2.1.8 users will receive an automated upgrade notice. Please note that prior to upgrading, users should confirm that their ShotFlow Admin has approved this upgrade for your studio. Selecting [Install Update] will download and install capture 2.2 on the local machine. Refer to this KB article: Updating ShotFlow capture
  2. If the notification is not displayed or a ShotFlow capture user has selected [Skip This Version] at a previous point, navigate to Admin -> Check for Updates

Upgrade Procedure from 2.1.1 - 2.1.7:

  1. Download the update from Microsoft AppCenter
  2. Extract the files from the ZIP archive
  3. Drag any older ShotFlow capture releases to the trash
  4. Launch ShotFlow capture 2.2 and log in

Upgrade Procedure from 2.0.x:

Your current release is only compatible with ShotFlow “1.0” (QuickBase). ShotFlow capture 2.1 and higher require access to the ShotFlow “2.0” platform. Your migration to the "2.0" platform should already be in progress, but DO NOT UPGRADE until the migration is completed.

What’s New?

This is the biggest revamp of ShotFlow capture since… well, ever!

  • Support for metadata tagging from additional tables, including Requests, Jobs/Channels, and Campaigns/Projects. For a full list of supported table relationships for XMP tagging, click here: XMP Optional Supported Tables (Metadata Tagging)
  • New color scheme, branding and icon. The app now aligns to the new ShotFlow branding launched last month. Most highlighting, title bars and icons have shifted from blue to the new "ShotFlow green."

A new “product centric” user experience for shooting multiple angles/views of products. It’s a whole new way to manage your capture process, with a raft of new features including:

  • Visibility to both required and optional Shots for each item. Enable optional Shots in a few clicks without cloning, if permitted by the Shot List.
  • View additional product information as well as Shot Details on one configurable screen
  • Support for multiple Groupings per Shot. This may require a relationship change to older ShotFlow applications.
  • View the Angle Name and Angle Abbreviation for each Shot, in addition to the Shot Title.
  • View the required crop aspect ratio(s) for the Shot overlaid to the Shot icon.
  • View multiple Style Guide(s) in their relevant location(s). Product or Grouping-specific Style Guides now display in the bottom left pane, Shot-specific Style Guides now display in the Shot icon (if no Asset is present).
  • View an Asset thumbnail for the Shot (requires Assets & Smarter Asset Automation modules).

Note that in Product Centric View, only Shots with either a relationship to a Product, Grouping or Sample will be visible. This is by design in Product Centric View.

We’ve also enhanced the original “Shot centric” View:

  • View the Angle Abbreviation for each Shot, in addition to the Shot Title.
  • Updated the window structure and behavior to better align with Mac OS standards. This eliminates the Narrow and Popover modes, replaced with panels and sections that can be independently opened, closed and resized.

Controls for both the Shot Centric and Product Centric Views are now located in a new User Navigation Strip, enabling:

  • Toggle back and forth between the two views
  • Toggle Detail panel open/close
  • Shot Actions

What Did We Fix?

  • Unable to Edit Dropdown (Multiple Choice) Fields. When attempting to edit a multiple choice field in the shot detail panel, the options were displayed, but could not be selected and retained. Fixed!
  • Shots Not Sorted by Status as Expected. When Shots are set to sort by Status, they weren't respecting the order as the values appeared in the Shot Status field. Fixed!
  • Large DPI (300p/inch) Style Guide Images won't scale. Larger DPI images wouldn't allow for resizing, but we've fixed it!

What Changed?

  • Delimiters for Shot Retrieval and Product Retrieval. When inputting multiple Product or Sample Identifiers for Shot or Product Retrieval, commas are the only supported delimiter. Some client's values include spaces, so a space is no longer supported as a delimiter. Now everyone can benefit from using these great features!

Known Issues

  • Products, Groupings & Samples no longer related to a Shot still show in Product Centric View. If a related Product, Grouping, or Sample is deleted or the relationship with the Shot is removed, the change may not show in ShotFlow Capture during the current session, but are correctly reflected after a restart of Capture.
  • Shot Lists without a Priority setting show in a different order between Shot Centric and Product Centric Views.
  • After disabling Auto Sync, reenabling Auto Syncing fails. Also present in 2.1.8.

Future Enhancements

  • Performance improvements for syncing and updating data in the cloud.
  • A preferences panel and clean up of menu options.
  • Revamping the filtering function.
