What Special Characters are Supported in Barcode Values?

Modified on Tue, 5 May, 2020 at 12:40 PM

ShotFlow offers two options for Barcode encoding:

  • Code 128 is the ShotFlow preferred encoding as it supports additional functionality that Code 39 does not
  • Code 39 may be better for extremely small labels, due to lower data density (better readability at smaller sizes)

Supported characters in each standard:

Code 128 (Recommended):
Upper and lower case characters (a-z and A-Z), numbers (0-9) and the following special characters:

  • . (Period)
  • - (Dash)
  • _ (Underscore)
  • $ (Dollar)
  • / (Back Slash)
  • + (Plus)
  • % (Percent)
  • whitespace

Code 39:
Upper case characters (A-Z), numbers (0-9) and the following special characters:

  • . (Period)
  • - (Dash)
  • $ (Dollar)
  • /  (Back Slash)
  • + (Plus)
  • % (Percent)
  • whitespace
