Style-Out function on Mobile

A "Style out" is the addition of other items to a primary ("hero") product for merchandising purposes. This is commonly done in apparel/fashion to show a hero product with other items as a "look" or a "cross-sell" that helps the buyer see how the product works with other offerings, and encourages buyers to purchase more than one item.

In ShotFlow, creating a Style Out requires very specific creation and linking of products, grouping(s) and shot records to deliver the expected results for capture and post workflows. Generally, a Style Out workflow starts with the following:

  • Product Data records have been created through Data Ingest to provide product metadata
  • Shot records have been created through Data Ingest as placeholders for the angles and Type(s) needed for each Product (e.g. Front Still, Back Still, and Side Still for a dress).
  • Each shot is related to the product it depicts, but no other products, because it is not known what other products will be styled with each "hero" product

For ShotFlow to feature more than one product in a Shot, the Groupings module must be enabled for the brand app, and a Grouping record needs to be created for each combination of products that will be styled together. Then the shot(s) that are relevant to that Grouping need to be linked to the Grouping. This is a somewhat tedious, multi-step process to complete via web browser.

ShotFlow created a dedicated Style Out function on the Samples & Styling mobile app (launched with release 1.0.8) to provide an easier and faster way to complete a Style Out using sample scanning.

The mobile workflow process is:

1. Scan the barcodes of all the item(s) to be featured in the Style out, including the hero product. Because the order of the scan is utilized later for sorting the grouped products (e.g. the brand would like the items metadata tagged in a specific order without the need to "fix" the order later as a separate workflow process), then users should be trained to scan the items in "tagging order." If sorting of the grouped items is not important, then the scan order can be ignored. Once all items are scanned, tap <Done>.

2. The scanned barcodes and their corresponding product identifiers are shown to confirm that the proper items are now in the active scan list. Tapping a row provides more context about each sample/product. If all items are correct, tap <Done>

3. Tap [Style Out]. The app prompts you to select the primary item you are styling out. This is the "hero" product whose shot(s) will be linked to this Style Out process.

4. The app searches to see if there are already Grouping(s) in this brand that have the same product(s) included. This functionality is designed to reduce the likelihood of creating multiple Groupings that are essentially duplicates of each other, with the same products but sorted in a different order. The user is presented with Grouping(s) that are similar, so the user can select an existing Grouping if it is applicable for this Style Out, or create a new one. If no similar Groupings are found, this step is automatically skipped.

5. The app presents a list of the type(s) of Shots tied to the hero product where at least one shot is not completed. For example, if the hero product has 3 incomplete "Laydown" type shots and 2 incomplete "On-Figure" type shots, the user will see two buttons: [Laydown] and [On-Figure]. Selecting a button will link the incomplete shots of that type to the Grouping for this Style Out.
