How to Install XMP Metadata Panels (Mac OS)

Modified on Tue, 27 Aug, 2024 at 11:02 AM

To seamlessly utilize ShotFlow XMP metadata visibility in Adobe Bridge CC and Photoshop CC (2018/2019/2020) on your Mac OS, follow these straightforward steps:

  1. Launch ShotFlow Capture and log in to a studio application with access to the specific brand for which you wish to generate XMP panels.
  2. Select a Set with at least one active Shot List for that brand already assigned
  3. From the "Admin" menu select "Create Adobe XMP Panels."
  4. Select the "Install on this computer" option.
  5. The Adobe XMP panels will be installed on the local machine for the current user. A confirmation dialog will appear, affirming "Adobe Panels Generated."
  6. To ensure panel recognition, restart Adobe Bridge and/or Photoshop if they are currently open.
  7. If the panel is not present in Adobe Bridge and/or Photoshop, navigate to "Windows" and select "Extensions" and ensure that "ShotFlow" is checked.
  8. When launching Adobe Bridge, you might encounter a prompt to load an extension named "com.ShotFlow.XMPViewer.Panel.KRBG." Click "Proceed" to display the ShotFlow panel in Bridge. If you dismiss the prompt, the panel won't appear, and you'll need to restart Adobe Bridge to receive the dialogue again.

To validate your installation, consider these paths:

1)Check ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.ShotFlow.XMPViewer.

2)Verify Brand JSON files in: ~/Library/Application Support/ShotFlow Capture/xmpdefs/.

3)Explore possible Brand-related subfolders in: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/XMP/

Note: If you are running a Mac computer with M2 processor and the Panel is not displaying values, you will need to run Photoshop in Rosetta mode. To do this:

  1. Close the application if you have it open
  2. Go into the Applications on the mac, find the folder for Adobe Photoshop and open the folder to get to the Photoshop application. Open the Info panel (right click and select "Get Info"  or Command (⌘) + i). Click on "Open using Rosetta" check box.
  3. Now open the application again and the panel should display
