If you're missing metadata in your image files, follow these steps to determine the issue:

No Metadata (Processed File)
Check for XMP File:
Verify that the Capture One Session Folder (or SubFolder) contains a corresponding .XMP file (XMP sidecar) for the capture.
Process Recipe Settings:
Ensure that the Process Recipe in Capture One is set to the specifications listed here: [Recommended Capture One Pro Settings for use with Capture Module].
ShotFlow Connectivity:
Confirm that the Shot shows as Connected in ShotFlow while capturing (Camera icon shows, and the Capture One Status icon in the lower left of ShotFlow capture is not red).
Next Steps:
If steps 1-3 are confirmed, follow the steps for "Missing Values in Metadata (Adobe Panels)" or "Missing Values in Metadata (DAMs)" based on where you are attempting to review the metadata.
Missing Values in Metadata (Adobe Panels)
Initial Steps:
Complete steps 1-3 above if no metadata is showing.
Enable ShotFlow Extension:
Confirm that the ShotFlow Extension is enabled. If the panel isn't showing, navigate to Windows->Extensions and ensure that "ShotFlow" is checked.
Verify in Web Interface:
Confirm that the missing values in the Adobe Panels are present in the Web Interface (Platform).
Reinstall Metadata Panels:
Uninstall and reinstall the Metadata Panels using the guides: [ Installing ShotFlow XMP Metadata Templates on capture Stations or Installing ShotFlow XMP Metadata Templates on other Mac OS systems].
If the issue persists, follow the guidelines provided below in "Reporting Missing Metadata Issues."
Missing Values in Metadata (DAMs)
PIM/System of Record:
Confirm that the missing values are present in the PIM or system of record.
Ingest File:
Confirm that the missing values are present in the Ingest file sent to ShotFlow.
ShotFlow Fields:
Confirm that the missing values are present in the fields in ShotFlow.
XMP Sidecar Files:
Confirm that the missing values are present in the XMP sidecar files.
ShotFlow CEP Panels:
Confirm that the missing values are present in the ShotFlow CEP panels. (See above for Adobe Panels)
Capture One Settings:
Ensure Capture One settings are optimized for embedding ShotFlow metadata. [Recommended Capture One Pro Settings for use with Capture].
Check DAM Mapping:
Verify that field labels in the DAM match those in ShotFlow. If a field label has changed (e.g., from "Name" to "Talent_Name"), ensure there are no conflicts with fields from different tables having the same label.
Confirm Exported Assets from Capture One:
If the XMP sidecar file is present, but no metadata is embedded after processing out of Capture One, check the filename and other metadata for special characters (such as &), which causes issue for Capture One
If the issue persists, follow the guidelines provided below in "Reporting Missing Metadata Issues."
Missing Talent Metadata
When capturing metadata, it’s important that the Talent metadata is linked to the Shot List rather than directly to individual shots. Capturing metadata linked only to a shot is not supported, and this can result in missing or incomplete Talent information.
Reporting Missing Metadata Issues
If you have completed the troubleshooting steps above and the issue still persists, please open a support ticket with the following information:
- Shot Titles or Naming Conventions: Provide the titles or naming conventions of the affected Shots.
- Shot List and Set Names: Include the name of the Shot List the Shots are assigned to, as well as the name of the Set the Shot List is on.
- Screenshots: Provide screenshots of the Capture Session folder showing captures without the XMP sidecars.
- Processed Image Files: Include processed image files for captures missing metadata.
- ShotFlow Capture Support Logs:Attach Capture Support Logs. [How Do I Generate Log Files for Support?]
- Software Versions:Specify the versions of ShotFlow Capture, Capture One, and the operating system (OS).
Failure to provide this information upfront will delay the investigative process and is required for support to assist with troubleshooting the issue.
